Yesterday was a good day.
Congratulations to Antonietta and Matt.
I couldn’t resist a picture of Lally, completely not paying attention.

I’ve been extra quiet recently, mainly because I’ve been running around trying to get organised for a craft event. The Bothered Owl (they of the fab Lego stitch markers and other such knitting related goodies) have organised a Christmas party, there will be mince pies, yarn and booze! Several indie dyers and crafters will be there including fyberspates and easyknits. It’s near Old Street tube in central London. So far I’m alternating between sheer, blind, panic and ridiculous amounts of excitement. It’s on Monday 6th December, starting at 6.30pm, full details can be found at The Bothered Owl’s website
Now I’m off to panic a bit more and dye more yarn!

It’s been a long time coming (too long) but I have finally managed to do some dyeing. I’ve been playing with a merino nylon mix laceweight which is the softest yarn and blooms beautifully once dried.
Here’s a teaser picture:
The problem is I’m not so happy. It’s not too clear from the picture but the dye is patchy in places. It’s particularly noticeable on the pink skein (I think I quite like the effect on the lime green and turquoise skeins). This is probably to do with the way the yarns were dyed (in a microwave). The container they were in did not give enough room for the dye to circulate, the result being patchy areas. I don’t know whether to put them up as they are (because some one might like a more uneven dye effect) or to over dye them. Truthfully I’m leaning towards over dying. Let me know what you think in the comments.
